......yay......
If you wondered where the hell I went, well surprise surprise! Because I AM ALWAYS AT HOME. But I've been busy, because only recently, I've managed to pick up a new hobby. And that is...
INDULGING IN THE WORLD OF MANGA
Ok. I used to not like reading manga, primarily because I'm actually lazy to flip pages (I kid you not, my laziness knows no boundaries), and also, it doesn't appeal as much as anime does to me. There are no colours, no music and I thought it was pretty dreadful. But it was thanks to Green Worldz, that I entered the realm of black and white pages.
I did not regret it.
Of course anytime, I would still prefer anime to manga, but I'd say manga has its perks as well. The ultimate golden perk is that... A WHOLE LOT MORE INTERESTING SERIES ARE FOUND. It's like, when I thought I ate all the Milo Cereal in this world and started to feel like there's no more good left, and then I found out about Sweet Home Farm's Granola. Can I scream JACKPOT?!
I eat Maple Pecan with yogurt, ALL DAY.
It's endless, it's crazy! Whatever the amount of series you have in anime, it's ten times more in the manga world; I discovered a hell lot of good titles there.
Also, in manga, they seldom let the story die just yet. Like in anime, when a certain season finishes, you'll have to sit, fast for 30 days and pray hard for the next season to come out. If you're hooked onto animes that aren't too popular and not in demand, I'm sorry but that's the only season you'll ever get... *weeps over the death of Ao no Exorcist*. At most, they'll come out with specials or OVAs to calm your restless souls.
BUT IT'S STILL NOT ENOUGH TO SATE THE HUNGRY BEAST.
I want more
I WANT MORE
I WWWWWANT MOREOREEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So many good animes should have more seasons... I was often left with this empty feeling after finishing a really good anime, but now all is good because certain series go on in manga, and I don't have to leave this planet miserably. Hope is not all gone yet!
Also,
BREAKING: I embarked on a SHOUJO* MANGA EXPEDITION.
*Shoujo means girl, thus Shoujo manga are directed at the female audience. So you'll have romance, slice of life, school life, comedy, etc., all mixed together.
I do not like romance to be very honest, but I thought I had better not be so rigid. So a long time ago I braced through certain romance (and also many other genres) anime series like Kimi ni Todoke or Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun. And hey, they turned out to be two really good animes that I've even rewatched! Especially Kimi ni Todoke, it was a really sweet story and not to mention, FREAKING HILARIOUS.
I also got brave and ventured into the higher leveled ones like Ao Haru Ride. It was something I could watch, but not something I thoroughly enjoyed...
And seriously, I've read/browsed through SO many shoujo mangas the past few months, I could write out one myself. It's like all shoujo mangaka (a term used to describe the people who write manga) have this protocol that is surprisingly foolproof. And it almost seem they have this contest among themselves to see who could write out the greatest ultimate combo - cliched and unrealistic - ever in the history of mankind.
*Disclaimer: As much as I support/ship certain couples and have come to enjoy the brimming passion of the blinded youths in the virtual world, I am entirely otherwise for reality. Romance in real life will not be tolerated. (҂⌣̀_⌣́)
I could name a few typical settings and plots I observed over this course:
- Childhood friends become lovers (Mangakas' top recommendation and highly in demand)
Watashitachi ni wa Kabe ga Aru
Heroine Shikkaku
The start of Ano Ko no Toriko, already talking about the childhood and shit
Aruitou
ENOUGH. Getting real tired of your shit here
and just so you know, I turned down all of the above mentioned series.
- Girl cannot seem to make any friends AT ALL
- Guy is very popular and have girls going gaga over him. But if you think one is not enough for the lustful audience, you can also consider...
- A bunch of Ikemen, also known as hot guy (4 is a good auspicious number). Example:
The dressing is ridiculous......
Please do not even try to advise me about the kid with his hair half black half white
.
.
.

.
.
.
- Guy/Girl is extremely dense and requires at least one rival in love to come in for him/her to realise their feelings
- Like 4, 5 or maybe even 29087 failed kiss attempts
- GIRL TRIPS AND GUY MAGICALLY CATCHES HER
But of course I've chanced upon a few really good series so I'll just name
10 series which I thought were pretty decent
1. Haru Matsu Bokura
THIS IS MY FAVOURITE SHOUJO MANGA, I'm currently waiting for chapter 16 and I have read chapter 1-15 10 TIMES, this is crazy.
Please do not start judging me HAHAHAHA
Before I start off, take a look at the summary:
"Mizuki who cannot readily open the heart to a person is going to turn over a new leaf from the high school to change oneself such. But after all I do not get along well…It is good-looking group of four that the rumor how at school to have met in such a case! Gradually knowing their true figure at the start though you were cautious…? Good-looking men and insane youth to send!"
Someone commented, "A monkey randomly pressing keypad would've written sentences making more sense than the summary."
HAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA THAT GOT ME TEARING
Ok so, I need to tell you guys that
I FREAKING SHIP MITSUKI AND TOWA SO HARD
I truly enjoyed this read. Everything in this manga is so peaceful, you don't have complicated shit stirring up a hurricane. I love how these two go so SO well together.
Aside from Saya and Haji (my one true pairing), I would sincerely give my fullest support and blessings to Mitsuki and Towa. You two were match made in heaven.
2. Aitsu to Kanojo to Mahou no Te
It's about a girl who has a passion for hair styling, same goes for the guy. They start off as colleagues and overtime, come to realise their feelings for each other. It also doesn't have unnecessary drama and shit going on: the "rival" in love isn't skanky as to pull out cliched tricks to win over the guy, she quietly accepted the rejection and yea, that's the way to go!
There was one part that got me laughing so hard. The guy actually secretly hugged her all of the sudden when everyone else knocked out from too much booze and then:
One of their drunk colleague gave them a scare because he was like "AH!" and then proceeded to say "Mom, that's my cake...".
They thought they were caught red-handed hahahahaha
It's weird to say this but... I love how normal this manga is. Honestly. Being realistic is an uncommon practice in manga, so much so that when you come across one that is normal, you'll start thinking WOW THIS IS A REALLY SPECIAL MANGA *BOOKMARKS IT*
3. Kamisama Kiss
I love this series! I chanced upon the anime version years ago and finished season 2 just last year. I love the quirky humour and am really happy that soooooo many things happened in the manga! Another pair of couple I ship huehue
YAY! I CAN'T WAIT FOR CHAPTER 133
4. Crayon Days
You know how when the girl trips and so coincidentally, the guy ALWAYS catches her? Nope, that shit ain't happening in this manga! You wanna trip? You had better fall to the ground hard and scrape your knee. Man I freaking love this attitude, the author is such a genius ٩(^ᴗ^)۶
and make sure the guy says WHOA!
Her friends grabbed her immediately, everything happened so quickly and he was like "Hey..."
After she unknowingly confessed and then passed out, just look at how glamourous that position is
He was chasing after her around the school like some game of tag
HAHAHAHAHAH
This manga is completed with 27 chapters but translations are up till chapter 19. I actually finished it though, I simply breezed through the chinese scans but oh good lord it was a tough breeze.

5. Tsubaki-chou Lonely Planet
From the author of Hirunaka no Ryuusei (HnR), Yamamori Mika is known for giving all women their biggest nightmare and scarring their hearts when HnR came to an end, because the main character ended up with the second guy instead of the conventional first love = final love route.
Everyone was screaming their heads off at the last chapter LOL HAHAHAHA I personally supported suzume and mamura together instead of sensei though:
They're so kawaii together WHAT NO???
Ok, back to Tsubaki-Chou Lonely Planet, I really like this one and although there are A LOT of similarities in terms of appearance and concept (main character's first love is a sensei, AGAIN), it stands out on its own with the development.
And can I just make a proclamation on FUMI BEING THE PRETTIEST
She is so plain but that's what make her so pretty!!!
This time I hope she ends up with sensei...
She had better end up with sensei...
YOU HEARD ME YAMAMORI MIKA?
This one is a little different because it's a webtoon, not exactly a manga, you can check it out here. I was a little sceptical about this initially, because I tend to be pretty harsh when it comes to who's the author etc., and I've always steered away from korean and chinese artists.
I KNOW I AM SO BIASED.
Hahahah but I've given A Fairytale for the Demon Lord (by a korean artist) a chance, and boy IT WAS GOOD! And from then on I started to open my choices to manhwa as well.
Ok so basically, there's this immortal guy named Winter Woods, who started to live with a desperate author named Jane to learn about human emotions, in return, Winter will tell Jane his dark past so that she could publish a book. I wasn't expecting this series to be A COMEDY.
Hahahahahaha Jane gets REALLY unglam it's hilarious
There was one part that was even better:
SHE LOST IT AHAHHAHAHA FUCKING FUNNY
7. Seishun Otome Banchou!
Come on guys, doesn't this make you wanna scream in laughter?!? I certainly did, I had times where I literally LOLOLOL.
It's about this tomboyish girl who has a crush on a guy. She's as hard as steel and super hilarious! She confessed to him but...
She went berserk and jumped out of the window HAHAHAHAHAHA
This manga is still ongoing at chapter 6 and the updates are so slow!11
8. Shinigami Tantei to Yuurei Gakuen
AYYY SO CUTE YOU TWO
This is not exactly a shoujo manga, it's actually a horror/mystery but with romance hahahah I just thought these two were really cute and innocent. There's one part they were about to enter the haunted house:
JUST LOOK AT HIM BLUSHING
9. Sekine-kun no Koi
I freaking love this manga! This is second to Haru Matsu Bokura on my list. It is REALLY unique and I was so hooked onto this series.
It kinda reminds me of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, because the character, in this case perfectionist and extreme case of OCD, is bringing you through his thoughts about things surrounding him. A very extraordinary guy, Sekine's stoic and indifferent, and you should see how he slowly comes to realise how an unusual thing called love unfolds in his life.
"Just handing her flowers makes me feel like I'm having Reflux Esophagitis."
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
*waits aggressively for chapter 23*
10. Dame na Watashi ni Koishite Kudasai
This is suuuuuuuuper hilarious wahahahaha it's a josei manga and not shoujo, so it has a very realistic (which includes extremely slow-paced) romance plot. They are ALWAYS arguing with each other and the small squabbles are so funny!
That was 10 pretty good shoujo mangas I'd recommend, but I'll also like to highlight on this series:
11. Zetsubou Baby
The manga was really good in the first chapter. It was about a filthy rich kid transferring into the school and going head over heels for a simple girl:
He was always trying to get hold of her forcefully:
Everything went downhill after this chapter, I was wondering why the story was so rushed. And I realised, IT ONLY HAD 5 CHAPTERS.
And they even squeezed in a WEDDING in chapter 5 omg THAT'S TABOO GOD DAMN IT ;__;
It had so much potential... What a big waste (︶︹︺)
Ok that is about all. I'm really glad I actually started reading manga, I might have long died from boredom because summer anime is so unconvincing (except Gangsta). But I'm totally looking forward to fall largely because
HAIKYUU!! 2
*SCREAMS IN JAPANESE*
UNTIL THEN!
P.S:
Are you curious as to where this kakkoii sniper san might be from?
Then stay tuned for the next post, because I will be listing down my favourite horror, mystery, thriller, seinen manga and you will love it!
*heartily chuckles from a distance*
